Impact centre helps to improve people’s quality of life

About us

The aim of the impact centre is to gather healthcare and social welfare information accumulated in different parts of Finland on impact, the measurement of impact and related competence. The impact centre is being prepared in cooperation with the Wellbeing Services Counties of North Savo, North Ostrobothnia and Southwest Finland, as well as the HUS Group, with the Wellbeing Services County of Pirkanmaa acting as the coordinator.

Impact centre promotes equality and assists in creation of effective services

In terms of impact, determining what kind of treatments and services will benefit the clients the most and how they can be made available equally to all are the key issues. The impact centre will support cooperation between the wellbeing services counties and promote the impact of services.

The aim of the project preparation is to create structures for the national impact centre by, among other things, surveying and measuring the current impact and competence needs. The impact centre will also disseminate good data collection and reporting practices. In addition, existing registers will be improved for wider use together with the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare.

Impact centre helps to improve people’s quality of life

The purpose of the impact centre is to improve the wellbeing of healthcare and social welfare clients. They have the right to receive effective treatment and services that genuinely improve their quality of life and support their coping in everyday life. The impact centre will help the professionals to do their job effectively.

Right to impact

Everyone has the right to receive and provide effective care and services.

Every citizen has the right to receive good care and equal services. Similarly, every professional has the right to be proud of the quality of their work. Prioritisation of healthcare and social welfare services is therefore necessary. When service provision focuses on the right things, society will be able to meet the growing needs and the demand and supply of services will be balanced.

Courage to influence

Abandoning ineffective treatments and services is allowed.

Courage means giving up old practices that do not provide the best benefits. When comparable data and valid indicators are available, abandoning treatments, services and processes with a low impact is justified. This way, the resources will be sufficient for what is essential.

Understanding impact

Effective treatments and services require reliable information.

Well-founded, reliably produced and nationally and internationally comparable data helps professionals and decision-makers in making difficult decisions. Effective care and services are created through cooperation. When the professional takes into account the experiences of their clients and patients, it is possible to plan their care and services more effectively. Citizens also have the right to know why they are being treated in the chosen way and on what basis the services were prioritised.
